During what is usually an extreme dry season, a spell of heavy rain hit Wadi Rum, a desert valley village in the south of Jordan on May 8 2018. As the rain subsided, water began to pour down the stunning rock formations, while a happy brave local chose to take a dangerous selfie in front of the flow - demonstrating its sheer scale. Staff from the Wadi Rum Gate camp, a spot for tourists to the region, rushed outside to record the beautiful moment in the desert. And they weren’t alone, as many of the nearby villagers - both young and old - had rushed out of their homes to share the awesome experience with each other. The heavy pour even appeared to take some locals by surprise, with one driver getting his truck caught in the water, much to the amusement of the village children.
